Biography of Pierre Riché



Pierre Riché was born in Paris in 1921, he studied at the Sorbonne university.
Agregated by history in 1948, he was a professor in the secondary schools of Constantine then Le Mans.
In 1953, he is named professor assistant at the Sorbonne university, then he became a lecturer in Tunis and in Rennes.
Doctor in Letters since 1962, he was a professor of Medieval History in the Arts faculty and Human sciences of Paris X-Nanterre university.

He was commissioner with Danielle Alexandre-Bidon on the exhibition with success"The childhood in the Middle Age" which took place from October 26, 1994 till January 15, 1995, in the Gallery Mazarine of Bibliothèque Nationale of France,
in Paris (France).

He was the President of the scientific committee of the exhibition "Blois in the year thousand"that took place in Blois (France).

Now, he is Professor Emeritus of Medieval History at the University of Paris X (Nanterre) and Former Director of the Center for Research in Late Antiquity and the High Middle Ages.  Presently he continues to give conferences across the nation, and assures a continuous production of new works, which are translated all over the world.
